Broadband Signal and Environment Generators (BSG)The Aeroflex Broadband Signal and Environment Generator (BSG) family provides wide bandwidth and deep memory RF signals. The Broadband Signal Generator combines a deep memory, high-speed arbitrary waveform generator, and a broadband RF up converter with powerful signal generation software. Broadband Signal Generators have bandwidth options of 70 and 400 MHz and full bandwidth signal memory of up to 81 seconds from solid-state memory. The bandwidth, memory depth, and dynamic range make the Broadband Signal Generator a powerful tool to test and debug broadband communications, frequency agile radio communications, radar systems, satellite systems, and broadband wireless network communications. Multi-channel Broadband Signal Generators are an ideal tool for generating wideband RF electromagnetic environments (EME).
An open, software-defined instrument architecture allows for easy imports of user created waveforms. Vector Signal Simulator (VSS) software creates signal files for radar and commercial wireless standards, as well as generic nPSK, nQAM, nFSK, nASK, AM, FM, PM, white Gaussian noise, MSK, CW, tone combs, and notched noise signals. Any of these generic signal types can be gated or bursted in time and hopped in frequency. Real signals, including recorded signals from Aeroflex's Broadband Signal Analyzers or other recorder sources, can be imported and combined with digitally generated signals, and then played back on the Broadband Signal Generator. Impairments--such as thermal noise, phase noise, passband amplitude, IQ amplitude, phase errors and phase distortion--can be added to the signals. Vector Signal Simulator provides the unique ability to mix any combination of signals and impairments to generate complex signal environments. Aeroflex's Vector Signal Player (VSP) software provides simple controls for signal file selection, output frequency control, and output power control. The BSG’s up converters use real, non-I/Q, conversion architectures, generating high dynamic range waveforms without carrier leakage and signal image problems associated with I/Q modulators found in traditional RF signal sources. Digital up converters are available to play narrowband signals very efficiently. They allow any signal recorded with the Broadband Signal Analyzer digital tuners to be played directly. Fully CustomizableRF configurations include: 3 GHz, 6 GHz, 12 GHz, and 18 GHz with 1 Hz tuning capability. The Broadband Signal Generators are frequently customized to our customer’s individual needs. Many standard options are available with:
