Product Take Back - EuropeEuropean Directive 2002/96/EC – Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE Directive) Background The WEEE Directive is designed to raise the level of recycling of electrical and electronic equipment and hence reduce the amount being disposed of in landfill sites. It makes the “producer” responsible for the cost of and the logistics for the environmentally safe disposal of all products delivered on or after 13th August 2005, and also for those products delivered before 13th August 2005 providing the end user is purchasing a new similar product.
If the product manufacturer is not resident in a particular Member State then the “producer” is the organization importing the product. How does this affect Aeroflex customers? For products sold into the UK Market the UK Aeroflex companies are utilizing the services of a product compliance scheme – GAMBICA B2B Compliance Ltd.
