The Aeroflex 3500 combines many of the features of a benchtop radio
test set with the features of a Frequency Domain Reflectometer (FDR)
into a lightweight, rugged and portable platform. The 3500 is perfect
for testing AM and FM radio transceivers, whether on a bench, installed
in a vehicle, or in some remote location.
NEW! Aeroflex's 3500 Hand-held Radio Test Set now has a new RF spectrum analyzer option.
This new option allows users to see the frequency spectrum of the signal they are measuring.

New return loss and one port cable loss measurements enable comprehensive testing of antennas and cables
The 3500 Radio Test Set now allows the user to measure and graphically
display return loss and cable loss. The return loss of an antenna or
other device is displayed in graphical form as return loss (in dB)
versus frequency. The loss of a cable is similarly displayed
graphically as loss versus frequency. These two measurements
are in addition to the VSWR and distance to fault (DTF)
measurements that were already present on the 3500. With these
four measurements, a complete analysis can be done on the cabling
and antenna of a radio system.
New DCS generator and Audio Frequency Counter (AF Counter) expand the functionality of radio test in the 3500.
A DCS generator and AF Counter are the latest additions to the radio
testing capabilities of the 3500. The DCS generator enables the testing
of radios that require the DCS (Digital-Coded Squelch) to un-squelch the
audio. The new Audio Frequency counter measures the frequency of audio
tones, whether from the audio in port, or the demodulated audio.
Drive-by testing isolates radio installation failures
Design for portable operation, the 3500 is ideal for performing radio
installation testing. By utilizing over the air testing techniques, a
radio installed in a vehicle can be tested, without making a direct
connection. A handset is included to help make voice quality measurements
of the transmitter and receiver.
Benchtop type tests allow the 3500 to go further than simple go/no go testing
With the 3500 as your test tool, you have the capability to go past
simple go/no go testing. The transmitter and receiver test screens include
meters to measure transmitter parameters such as power, frequency and modulation. The
receiver test screen includes meters to measure receiver sensitivity
(SINAD) and audio distortion. The 3500 even includes two audio generators
that can be used either at baseband or to modulate the transmitter. All of
these features combine to make the 3500 a complete radio test set for FM and
AM radio transceivers.
